Courtship is
the period of time during
which a man and woman have close but holy relationship before getting
married.
It is a period the partners get intimately familiar with each other.
Those who
hurriedly go to the altar
without proper understanding of the personality of each other are not
wise.
They have set a stage a failed or distressed marriage.

Before Courtship Commences
A wise single needs to
consider the following
before going into courtship with anybody.
1. HIV test must be carried
out on the two
parties.
2. The
genotype of the two
parties must be determined. This will save them from entering
into a marriage that will produce children
with sickle cell. See the table below.

3. The two parties must seek
the face of the
Lord individually to determine if God approves their relationship. God
reveals
His will in marriage through dream, vision, signs or still small voice.
Whoever
seeks the face of God must be ready to accept God’s will for his/her
life.
The above steps
are compulsory for
whoever that desires a successful courtship. Jumping over or rushing any
of
them may lead to a faulty courtship which in turn leads to marriage
failure.
Qualities of Suitable Partner
In seeking for a
suitable partner, the
following qualities must be considered:
- The
person must have salvation
experience.
- He/She must have a teachable
spirit.
- He/She must have an open
heart.
- He/She must be humble.
- He/She must not be lazy.
- He/She must have a forgiven
spirit.
- A man seeking
for a wife must be capable of
taking care of her financially.
